Privacy Policy
Last updated: April 2026The short version: Selah Notes does not collect, store, or share your personal data. Your sermon notes stay on your device. We have no servers storing your information. We run no analytics. We serve no ads. That's it.
Who we are
Selah Notes is a free, non-profit iOS application available at selahnotes.org. It is built and maintained independently as a mission-driven project with no commercial interests.
What data we collect
We collect no personal data. Selah Notes has no user accounts, no registration, and no backend servers. The app does not transmit any information about you or your notes to us or any third party.
Your sermon notes
Everything you write in Selah Notes — your sermon notes, reflections, and responses — is stored locally on your iPhone using Apple's SwiftData framework. This data never leaves your device unless you choose to enable iCloud sync.
iCloud sync (optional)
If you enable iCloud sync in Settings, your notes are synced via Apple's CloudKit service using your personal Apple ID. This sync happens between your own Apple devices only. Selah Notes cannot access, read, or retrieve your iCloud data. Apple's iCloud privacy policy applies to this sync.
Third-party services
Selah Notes makes requests to two external services to provide features within the app:
- bible-api.com — used to fetch Bible passage text when you view a sermon's passage in the Reflection view. Only the scripture reference you entered (e.g. "Romans 8:28") is sent. No personal information is transmitted.
- beta.ourmanna.com — used to fetch a daily verse if you enable the optional Verse of the Day notification. No personal information is transmitted.
Neither service receives any identifying information about you. No cookies, no user IDs, no device fingerprinting.
Analytics and tracking
Selah Notes contains no analytics software, no tracking pixels, no crash reporting services, and no advertising SDKs. We do not know how many people use the app, how often they use it, or what they do within it.
Notifications
If you grant notification permission, Selah Notes schedules local notifications on your device. These notifications are generated and stored entirely on your device — they are not sent from a server and do not involve transmitting any data externally.
Children
Selah Notes does not knowingly collect any data from anyone, including children. The app contains no features that require or collect personal information.
Changes to this policy
If we ever change this privacy policy, we will update the date at the top of this page and note the change in the app's release notes. We will never introduce data collection without prominent disclosure.
